Benedetti asked to assess compliance with Law Attorney pool

An application to the Attorney General's Office did Congress President Armando Benedetti, to examine whether the measures taken by municipalities and districts on the law 1209 of 2008 entitled Pools Act, are being met.

Despite the insistence of the legislature, there are reports that in many municipalities and localities failing to heed the recommendations on measures included in the Law of pools.

"I have reports from several cities that tells me that many municipalities have not complied with the security measures taken by the Swimming Pools Act. It is my duty as a promoter of this initiative to ask the control authorities to consider whether the rule has been applied or otherwise established any disciplinary responsibilities of mayors and councilors, "he said.

Benedetti says it is not just to relocate two years waiting for it to meet safety standards in pools without having taken the corresponding emergency measures. "We continue exposing the lives of children and older adults in the pool despite having one of the most comprehensive laws in the management of their safety," said.

Benedetti also ask the Government to hire an external audit to present a study on what has been lacking for the implementation of the law and the recommendations for action to be taken.

"As an additional measure I will ask the Ministry of Social Protection to report to Congress actions to law enforcement, audits and evaluation of the results."
